I guess they did this contract, they being Santana’s agent, with the Barry Zito contract as the framework, and because the Giants overpaid Zito with the 7 years 126 million, then the Mets had to top that for the 2 time Cy Young winner Santana. If Santana’s body holds up and he is able to give the Mets 200 Innings and 15-18 wins per season, 200 K’s, for the 7 years, then it is a good deal, but in my mind, it’s ludicruos to give ANY player more than a 3 year deal, that goes for position players. I am not a big fan of the 10 year 275 million deal the Yankees gave A-Rod, but hey, who am I? Just a guy with a computer and an opinion, what do you think?
